A social media user known as “WebkidAfrika”, identified in court documents as Abdul Gafaru Sadi, a staunch supporter of Shatta Movement, has been arraigned before court over allegations of publication of false news and offensive conduct said to be directed at musician Stonebwoy and his family.

According to the prosecution, the accused, who is a salesman and social media blogger residing at Community 1 Site 2 in Tema, is alleged to have used his X account to share content that authorities describe as false, misleading, and capable of causing fear and panic.

The statement of offence indicates that on or about 11 November 2024 in Accra, the accused intentionally sent a communication online which allegedly endangered the safety of Stonebwoy and his family.

The charges are being brought under Section 76 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), which deals with publication of false news.

Prosecutors say the post in question formed part of a wider pattern of online activity that crossed legal boundaries, particularly where it involved claims and statements deemed untrue and harmful.

In a second count, WebkidAfrika is facing charges of offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

Court documents describe the musician as a resident of Adiringanor in Accra, while the accused allegedly participated in a series of online posts targeting him and his family.

The prosecution states that the matter began to escalate after Stonebwoy reportedly noticed in August 2025 that several videos had been deleted from his YouTube channel.

He later conducted his own checks and allegedly traced the issue to his former social media administrator and manager, identified as Casey Kobia.

A petition was subsequently filed with the Director-General of the CID, which was referred to the Cybercrime Unit for investigation.

Investigators claim that during the probe, it emerged that Casey Kobia had allegedly contracted several bloggers, including WebkidAfrika, to publish images of Stonebwoy, his wife, and children on social media platforms, accompanied by derogatory and provocative captions.

Among the posts cited in court documents were statements such as “Married this thing but had the nerve to call Shatta Wale’s wife prostitute,” “Stonebwoy you are mad,” and “Daddy once took advantage of Abena Korkor!!! Stonebwoy is evil.”

Authorities further allege that these posts triggered additional users to join in, contributing to a wave of offensive commentary directed at the musician and his family.

Prosecutors have argued that the coordinated nature of the publications created tension and amounted to conduct likely to disturb public peace.

WebkidAfrika was arrested on 7 May 2026 as part of ongoing investigations.

Security officials say efforts are still underway to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to be linked to the alleged online campaign.
